Upper Cumberland Development District has an opening for Transportation Planner. The Transportation Planner will act as a liaison between local elected officials and the Tennessee Department of Transportation and will assist local governments in all aspects of transportation planning.

Duties include:

  • Develop and maintain reports and studies to coordinate transportation planning efforts
  • Communicate on a regular basis with communities, stakeholders, and partners
  • Serve as a central point for receiving and providing input on multi-modal needs for RPO
  • Serve as a clearing house for information and data gathered
  • Create and maintain a database of RPO members, stakeholders, and interested parties
  • Publicize and facilitate regular and special meetings of the Technical Committee and Executive Board
  • Provide technical assistance and administration for transportation-related grant programs

Qualifications:

  • Possess good oral and written communication skills with basic knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and number style
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Experience working with state/federal government programs
