The Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability is excited to announce a new Partnership in cooperation with the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, and the Tennessee Department of Human Services. This partnership created a new project designed to expand outreach, screening, and applications assistance for adults 60 and older or with a disability for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formally known as Food Stamps in the Upper Cumberland Region.

The project will help inform and educate older adults in Tennessee who may be eligible to enroll in SNAP and seek additional medical deductions, possibly resulting in increased monthly benefits with which to pay for food items.

In Tennessee, there are a large percentage of older adults who are eligible for SNAP and either not getting it, or not getting the maximum benefit for which they are entitled.

Any adults 60 and over or with a disability who live in Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, White counties and interested in learning more about the SNAP program, or who need assistance completing an application, can call UCAAAD SNAP Coordinator Nestor Chavez at  931-476-4119.
