The Upper Cumberland Development District’s Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) will receive sealed proposals for the provision of frozen, medically-tailored meals for the HomeDelivered Nutrition and Congregate Nutrition Programs as specified below. These meals are intended to serve clients with medically necessary dietary restrictions who need nutritional support for any of a variety of conditions (heart or kidney disease, diabetes, etc.). Each meal shall furnish a minimum of one-third of the dietary reference intake as established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Each meal shall comply with the most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans, published by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of Agriculture.

  • Congregate Meals: Congregate meals shall be provided by Nutrition Services Providers to senior centers. They shall provide at least one frozen meal per day, up to five days per week in each county, and any additional meals that the recipient of a grant or contract may elect to provide.
  • Home-Delivered Meals: Home-delivered meals shall be provided by Nutrition Service Providers which, five or more days a week, provide at least one home-delivered frozen per day. Any nontraditional meal must be approved by the AAAD before being provided.

The AAAD contracts for services in the 14-county region of the Upper Cumberland (Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, Dekalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, and White).

Interested parties are encouraged to contact Phillip Fox at (931) 476-4166 or pfox@ucdd.org to receive a Request for Proposal (RFP) packet. Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 30, 2024.
