As a recipient of the 2020 Meals on Wheels Pets Grant Award and through a collaboration with local PetSmart Charities, the Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability’s (UCAAAD) Ani-Meals program was able to successfully deliver more than 2,300 pounds of pet food.
Earlier this week, the UCAAAD Ani-Meals team picked up more than 400 pounds of pet food to be delivered over the next week to Putnam County homebound seniors and their furry companions.
From September 2020 to January 2021, volunteers delivered pet food to a total of 22 homebound seniors and their 32 pets. With the grant funding ending in January, UCAAAD been able to continue serving 17 seniors and 25 pets with the help of community contributions and a partnership with Cookeville PetSmart. The current donation funds will enable monthly pet food deliveries to last through May 2021.
