Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget of needy families so they can purchase healthy food and move towards self-sufficiency. At UCDD, staff are responsible for assisting elderly and disabled individuals who need help with the application process. Staff will assist the client by sending the documents that are required for eligibility to the Department of Human Services (DHS). SNAP staff also provides education and outreach to all fourteen counties in the Upper Cumberland and is funded by the State of Tennessee’s Department of Human Services.
