Upper Cumberland Development District has an opening for Economic Development Planner. The Economic Development Planner will work to elevate the economic status of the Upper Cumberland region and businesses throughout.

Duties include:

  • Builds relationships with stakeholders throughout the region identifying needs and providing access to resources to address identified needs
  • Researches and writes proposals and grant applications to secure funding for identified challenges
  • Seeks out best practices from across the nation to study, replicate, and adapt as appropriate
  • Completes reporting and program administration requirements of multiple funding agencies
  • Provides assistance in the development of short and long-term economic and community development plans
  • Gathers information and prepares studies, reports, and recommendations to achieve stated goals
  • Serves as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Attends training and becomes proficient in job-related subject matters

Qualifications:

  • Highly driven, self-starter able to chart the course of this new position
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in identifying weaknesses and problem-solving through critical thinking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to attend necessary training
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

The successful applicant will possess a bachelor’s degree in business, political science, economic development, or related degree preferred. Experience in manufacturing, business development, or workforce fields valued. Tennessee Certified Economic Developer Certification – to be earned during employment
