Caring for You, Caring for Me Support Program

Area of Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) will be starting a new cycle of caregiver support meetings in the month of February.  Individuals who are are caregivers, regardless of roles, are invited to attend support meetings provided through the Family Caregiver Support Program.  Beginning in the month of February, a new program will be utilized to give caregivers the tools they need to be successful caregivers that feel supported and informed.

The Rosalynn Carter Institute’s Caring for You, Caring for Me: Education and Support for Family & Professional Caregivers program will be shared with caregivers attending the support meetings.  Caring for You, Caring for Me will offer support in a relaxed environment, where issues, ideas and understanding will be shared among one another.  Throughout this five-week program, caregivers will be provided with information regarding all aspects of caregiving with opportunities to share personal experiences and receive feedback from fellow caregivers.  By attending these caregiver support meetings, participants will gain knowledge regarding how best to cope with stress, learn of the resources available, ways to reduce frustrations and barriers, while recognizing they are not alone.

Meetings for Overton County will be held every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 1-2pm at the Overton Millard Oakley Library and Putnam County will be every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10-11am at the Upper Cumberland Development District.  If you or someone you know is interested in attending caregiver support meetings or has any questions regarding care resources, contact Clare at the Upper Cumberland Development District 931-432-4111.
